10 Easter Games for Family Fun and Memory-Making
Are you having a group over for Easter this year? Keeping everyone entertained can be a challenge. Playing games is a great way for everyone to enjoy time together and get active. You can choose a traditional activity or try something entirely new! They don’t have to be elaborate or expensive. We’ve come up with a few simple ideas for games you can play to bring laughter to your Easter celebration. Grab your camera because you’ll want to record these memories!
Bunny Tails
Buy a bag of large crafting pom-poms and attach double-sided tape to each one. Give each guest a cupful of the sticky pom-poms and instruct them to stick as many of their pom-poms to the other guests as they can. At the end of the game, the person who has the fewest “bunny tails” is the winner.
This active game is excellent for outdoor physical activity.
Old-fashioned Egg Toss
This classic Easter game is always lots of fun. The traditional version involves raw eggs, but you can use slippery hard-boiled eggs or filled plastic eggs if you are worried about getting messy.
Divide participants into pairs and give each pair an egg. Partners stand opposite each other, and when directed, one person tosses the egg to the other.
Those pairs who manage to catch the egg then take a step backwards, creating more distance, and toss the egg again. This process repeats until only one pair is left with an egg that hasn’t broken or fallen to the ground.
Smashing Egg Art
Each time you use an egg, take the insides out by taking just the tip off the eggshell. Rinse each shell and allow it to dry. Collect several eggshells for each person you expect at your gathering.
Just before your event, fill each eggshell with acrylic paint from the craft store. Use at least three colors. Close the top of each egg by gluing a piece of tissue paper over the hole.
When you are ready to play, give each person a small canvas or divide your guests into groups with a more substantial canvas for each group. You could also create a large piece of group art by using a white sheet.
Then let each guest smash the eggs into the canvas. The result is beautiful splatter art and a whole lot of fun.
Egg Pass
Direct players to stand in a circle. Give one person an egg and say to pass it to the person on the left. The trick is that they have to tuck the egg under their chins and may not touch the egg with their hands at all. Send the egg around the circle. Be sure to have extras because some will get dropped and broken.
Balloon Egg Hunt
Instead of a traditional egg hunt, tie helium-filled balloons to each egg you are hiding. Your yard will look amazing with balloons all over, and your littlest guests will be able to join the fun. Let children take the balloons home as prizes.
Plastic Egg Obstacle Course
Create a simple obstacle course in your yard with objects to step over or tunnels to crawl through, and add stations with baskets of plastic eggs. Participants will choose an egg and open it up to find a silly instruction like “do a chicken dance” or “hop around like the Easter bunny.” The activities can be as challenging or as silly as you’d like.
Jelly Bean Load
Fill a bowl with jelly beans and give each guest a wooden popsicle stick balanced over a paper cup. See who can balance the most jelly beans on the stick.
You can make the game more challenging by requiring the participants to keep the popsicle sticks in their mouths.
Egg Relay Race
Divide everyone into two groups. Give guests plastic spoons. Each guest takes a turn walking to a specific location and back while balancing an egg on the spoon. If the egg falls and break, the person has to start over. The first team to get everyone there and back with eggs intact is the winner.
You could make this game easier by allowing guests to balance the eggs on paper plates instead of spoons.
Musical Rabbit Holes
This game is like musical chairs but uses hula hoops as rabbit holes. Get enough hula hoops for each player minus one, and place them on the ground.
Play upbeat music as guests hop around like rabbits. When the music stops, rabbits jump into the hoops and quickly pull them up to their waists. The rabbit without a hole is out.
Discard one hoop each round and continue the game until only one rabbit is left.
Egg Roulette
This messy game creates some huge laughs and excellent picture-taking opportunities. Have plenty of towels nearby. Hard-boil five eggs and place them in a bowl, along with one raw egg. Players take turns choosing eggs to crack against their heads. Play continues until one person is unfortunate enough to pick the raw egg.
Games create special memories of time spent together. Try one of the games above at your Easter party or family gathering and enjoy the fun!
